Macadamia Drive

On the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Macadamia Drive looks across open pastoral land and tree-lined ridges to Baroon Pocket Dam.

The existing dwelling was removed almost entirely, leaving its concrete slab. Working with this retained foundation brought its own challenges, but kept useful material out of landfill. A breezeway doubles as the entry and foyer, connecting old and new to form two offset modules.

The offset allows each room to capture the view and soak up winter sun on cool hinterland mornings.

Wheelchair-friendly movement was another essential part of the brief. Wider hallways and doorways, with the home arranged on one level, bring access into the heart of the design.
